Every Friday, my family and I have our traditional pizza day!

My big guy always looks forward to Fridays, and not just because he gets to eat the pizza.

He is always super excited because he gets to make his own pizza from start to finish.

Don’t get me wrong, once in a while it’s super helpful to my schedule if we can order it from around the corner, but this recipe is way healthier for my almost 4 year old.

We all know the phrase, “picky eater”.

My son is definitely in the stage where he feels most comfortable eating pasta, chicken cutlets or nuggets, pizza, and burgers.

Secretly, sometimes I give him burger patties that are actually made with vegetables. Mom win!

He will eat the odd fruit and veggie, but I noticed he doesn’t eat as much protein as I would like. He’s a growing boy – the size of a 6 year old.

Thankfully, this recipe is made with lots of Greek Yogurt, an excellent source of protein!

Like I said previously, I don’t mind ordering pizza once in a while, but I find that Joseph enjoys his pizza so much more because he put the effort and love into making his own.

We usually make the pizza dough in the morning while baby brother naps.

I refrigerate our pizza dough until 30 minutes before we are ready to cover it with Joey’s favourite toppings!

I bring out the step ladder and he helps me roll the pizza dough out.

Then, we poke holes in the dough with a fork (to prevent bubbling in the oven).

His favourite part – Joey spreads the tomato sauce, covers the pizza dough in cheese, pepperoni, and then gives it a chef’s kiss before Mommy finally puts it in the oven!

Watching your child enjoy something they created from scratch is so special.

I hope you all enjoy your pizza day too!

Protein Packed Pizza Dough for Kids (and Adults!)

This pizza dough is packed with protein for your children! Using Greek yogurt as the base, kids won't be able to tell the difference between my protein packed recipe and the regular version!
Prep Time 20 minutes
Cook Time 14 minutes
Total Time 34 minutes
Servings 1 Person

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Plain Greek Yogurt 0% is normally what we use!
  • 1/2 cup Self-rising Flour
  • 1 tbsp Parmesan Cheese grated
  • 1/2 tsp Oregano
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • pinch Salt The parmesan cheese makes the dough salty enough, so I usually just add a pinch of salt!

Instructions

  • Mix your Greek yogurt, flour, parmesan cheese, oregano, garlic powder, and salt together in a bowl. Have your kids mix it all up (this part is a ton of fun)!
  • Once combined and the dough is formed, add a tablespoon of flour to a clean surface. Knead the dough for about a minute and form into a ball.
  • You can refrigerate the dough if you make it ahead of time. I wrap ours in plastic wrap and leave it in the fridge for 5-6 hours. Take your ball of dough out 30 minutes before you plan on preparing it for the oven.
  • If you're ready to make your pizza, roll it out and add whatever toppings your children love! Have them poke some holes into the dough with a fork first, then add some olive oil, pasta sauce, cheese, pepperoni, and anything else they like!
  • Place your pizza on a baking sheet and cook in the oven for 14-15 minutes at 400 Degrees F.
  • Enjoy! 🙂
